What People Are Saying

“I have had many chiropractic and physio experiences over the years and my experience at Base Camp was by far the absolute best. Dr. Murdoch not only treated my knee, so that I could run my first trail race pain free, he also provided an incredible program specific to the areas I need to strengthen to achieve my goals. Base Camp is truly a one stop shop for anyone who has athletics/fitness goals, who wants to feel their best, and who wants to walk away with a wealth of knowledge.”

— Sarah

“Dr. Mark Murdoch is much more than your average rack 'em crack 'em Chiropractor. I went to see Mark to do a couple of movement assessments one of which was for a half marathon obstacle course race that I am training for. I have little to no running experience and a problematic knee. Dr. Mark was able to assess my areas of weakness and get me on track with some useful tips going into my training.”

— Cassandra

“I highly recommend base camp chiro! Dr Sam is very professional and personable. She is very knowledgeable and thorough, making sure that you understand what she’s talking about. She has helped me through knee and back pain and has been so reassuring and optimistic throughout. She responds in a timely manner to emails and gets me in quickly when needed. She is also wonderful with children. I know I’m in good hands!”

— Ashley

“After over a year with the same glute and knee niggle, I wanted to try a different approach than a traditional chiropractor. Within the initial consultation, Dr Mark was able to pin point areas other chiropractors hadn't and create a plan forward. After following the rehab plan and some great in person session with Dr Mark, I was able to get back running pain free after only a few months!”

Dr. Mark Murdoch

Doctor of Chiropractic, Masters in Sports Medicine, Bachelor in Kinesiology

Founder of Base Camp Chiropractic & Sports Rehab

I believe life is better when you’re outside. Your life shouldn’t be limited by pain, and taking charge of your health is one of the best investments you can make in yourself. These beliefs shaped the foundation of Base Camp Chiropractic & Sports Rehab, right here in Vernon, BC.

In my previous career as a traditional chiropractor, the model didn’t align with my vision of care. Appointments were short—5 to 10 minutes—and focused mostly on adjustments. There was no time to truly connect with my patients, understand the root cause of their injuries, or work toward their goals.

At Base Camp, we do things differently. I count myself lucky to work with the skiers, mountain bikers, runners, CrossFitters, and outdoor enthusiasts who make Vernon so unique. Together, we help people not just manage pain but take control of their health and unlock their full potential.

Whether you’re chasing your next summit, conquering trails, or setting personal records, I’m here to help you get there.

See you on the trails,

Dr. Mark

FAQs

What is an appointment like?

Our first session is an assessment which typically takes about an hour. In the assessment, we have an in-depth discussion to discover the root causes of your injury and confirm this with a detailed movement exam before we outline a comprehensive treatment plan. Our follow-up sessions are 30-60 minutes long. During these sessions, we will have enough time to recap what has occurred since the previous session, re-evaluate any movements, progress your treatment plan and exercise program, and provide you with the next steps in your recovery.

Do I need to be a high-level athlete to work with Base Camp?

No!

At Base Camp, we believe if you have a body, you’re an athlete, and you should work on your body. We see patients with sports injuries, headaches, pregnancy pain, and arthritis. You don’t need to be a high-level athlete to take care of and work on your body.o

I

Why longer appointments?

We value your time. Instead of coming back to our office several times per week, we spend more time answering your questions and working directly with you to aid in your recovery. We want you to feel confident in understanding your body and how to reach your goals.

We designed a style of treatment that we want for our own care!

what should i wear?

It is important to wear loose clothing that you might wear to a gym. We do soft tissue work on most patients and this style of dress makes that work much more comfortable for you. At BCSS, we believe that movement, training, and loading during your appointment is necessary so that you can develop preparedness to engage in what you love and reduce the risk of your injury coming back.

Do I need a referral for chiropractic?

Nope. You can come see us whenever you want.

Does insurance cover chiropractic services?

Insurance coverage for chiropractic care will depend on your specific plan. Typically your insurance company will cover a portion of care or a specific dollar amount.

How do I know if my issue is ‘bad enough’ to see a Chiropractor? I don’t want to waste anyone’s time

No issue is too small or insignificant. The truth is if it is interrupting your lifestyle in any way or you are feeling uncertain about what is going on, then there is value in getting an assessment to gain confidence in the diagnosis and have a detailed management plan. We advocate for this proactive approach because issues left to linger tend to become more complex with time. REMEMBER! We offer FREE 15-minute consults.
